Another 2 Minute Essential: Be a Well-Prepared Host

This 2 Minute Essential has less to do with fashion and more to do with lifestyle. Perhaps it even has more or less everything to do with what it means for me to be a gentleman; and I’d like to share it with you. So you are hosting a party and before the event, you stop off to pick up a few things – maybe they are last-minute, or maybe this is the best time for you to do your shopping. Ranging from items to add to the table of hors d’oeuvres or bottles to stock your bar, you want to be sure you are good to go.

There are two items in particular you may have overlooked that – in my humble opinion – should be sold beside each other, as they are intrinsic to one another. They are Limes and Club Soda.

Half of today's 2 Minute Essential!

Half of today's 2 Minute Essential!

Why is it that such an essential and easy combination to remember is the one that is almost always forgotten? Now, when we have what seems like an infinite number of different flavored vodkas flooding the shelves of our local liquor stores, the leftover orange or cranberry juice simply won’t do when trying to please your guests. (At least the ones that show up with taste buds, anyway.)

You know what is so wonderful about The Everyday Gentleman’s 2 Minute Essential? It only takes you two minutes to pull off. Now, while the limes and club soda themselves are usually aisles (I almost said miles) apart, I know you can cover that distance within two minutes. Tuck a few bottles of club soda under one arm and with the other, you’ll be able to go over and grab a few limes. Oh, and while you’re there, pick up some peppercorn goat cheese to go with those crackers you bought. Trust me, between the limes and club soda lined up alongside your bar, and the goat cheese at your table, your guests will know they are dealing with a professional.

Cheers!
